Overview

Opportunity Finance Network, the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation, and the U.S. Treasury Department's Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund) invite you to attend the Opportunity Finance Network Conference and the “Building Community Development Finance Capacity in the Southeast” meeting.

The meeting is the result of a discussion among area community development finance practitioners, funders and investors on the vast disparity in community development finance capacity in North Carolina relative to the rest of the Southeast. While North Carolina is rich in CDFIs, other states in the region tend to have fewer and smaller CDFIs. We asked ourselves what could be done to change this picture?

The “Building Community Development Finance Capacity in the Southeast” meeting will convene partners to address the question. The goal of the meeting is two-fold: to provide education about CDFIs and their impacts in low- and moderate-income communities; and to develop an action plan for increasing CDFI capacity. We plan to bring together practitioners, foundations, banks, government representatives, consultants, and others interested in solving this challenge.

We encourage you to participate in this meeting and to play an active role in moving the Southeast forward in its ability to provide all communities in the region with responsible and appropriate credit and financial services.
