In May 2009 Congress passed and President Obama signed a new law to protect tenants in the event of foreclosure: The Protecting Tenants at Foreclosure Act (PTFA) requires that leases remain in effect in the event of a foreclosure and that tenants who have a monthly lease are given a minimum 90 days notice to vacate their homes. This day-long conference will include panels of key national players involved with drafting and implementing the new law and state agency representatives who will discuss the implications for Maryland owners and renters. Specialized training will be provided for attorneys and counselors who are assisting tenants impacted by foreclosure.
If you would like to obtain a copy of the full training, submit a DVD request to Leona Chan. Include the event name and date, the recipient's name, and the mailing address with your DVD request.
Attorneys, housing counselors, housing agency staff and others with an interest in rental housing.
