Life at the Richmond Fed

The employees of the Richmond Fed

What It’s Like to Work Here

We take great pride in what we do—helping to protect the strength and stability of our economy. It’s the cornerstone of our public service mission. We bring focus and passion to our work every day. It’s serious work, but we take a more casual approach to our workplace. You’ll see everything from business suits to blue jeans here, because we each dress for our own work day. Some roles, like in IT, even have flexible work schedules or telework options. What’s most important is creating a challenging and stimulating environment, across all our offices and locations, where we bring out the best in each other.

Working together

And, while we work hard, we like to have fun along the way. We enjoy everything from pumpkin-carving contests to raise money for United Way and “spirit days” where we sport our Richmond Fed gear, to employee art contests and top-notch wellness centers. It’s all part of keeping things interesting and rewarding – which also includes our great benefits

Who We Need on Our Team

We’re the place for you if you have a lively curiosity, strong sense of integrity and commitment to serving the greater good. Are you interested in developing yourself and others? Can you build relationships and establish trust with coworkers and other collaborators? Are you willing to push yourself to think strategically and drive results? If you’re nodding your head, we look forward to hearing from you—and seeing how you could play a role on our team.

Our Careers

Our Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion

It takes each of us to build a more diverse, inclusive workplace. At the Richmond Fed, we work every day to create an environment where people feel respected, valued, engaged and appreciated. These principles are supported throughout our organization and reinforced through education, employee resource networks, mentoring and diversity recruiting.

Our Careers

Community Service and Volunteering

If you love giving back to your community, you’ll find a whole host of people here who feel the same way! In addition to Richmond Fed-sponsored activities that support our mission, we also give you 16 hours of paid leave each year to give back to non-profit organizations and community causes that are most meaningful to you. Last year alone, our caring people donated more than 12,000 hours of time to 312 nonprofits.

"I am beyond thankful for all the opportunities the Richmond Fed has given me. I have found myself a career, not a temporary job, and have the most exceptional support system."
